Influence of a complex impeller with tip clearance on the internal and external characteristics of a multiphase pump

With the exploitation of deep sea and desert oil fields, multiphase pumps have come into public eye. However, due to nature medium operating environment, performance traditional has diminished, leading problems such as increased recovery cycles rising costs. In order obtain a high-head, high-reliability pump, this paper uses model optimization method design complex pattern impeller. The best impeller with 17.25% increase in head was selected external characteristics index, comparative analysis internal flow field carried out between original when inlet gas volume fraction 10%. results show that impeller, short blade reduced proportion high-speed zone, inhibited appearance main suction surface low-speed significantly improved return flow. slope pressure boosting curve at relative position 1.5–2.0 increased, capacity by 16.34 kPa. weakens leakage movement while reducing effect on blade. addition, not only phase gathering but also its size made it closer surface, which uniformity distribution channel enhanced capacity. can provide reference for future improvement pump models.
